Freedom, Justice and Crime

We call for the defense and extension of the liberties guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, including freedom of speech, press, assembly and association, and the right to keep and bear arms for individual and collective defense. The ultimate guarantee of those rights is the organized strength of the working class.

Capitalism and poverty breed crime and repression. Working class people are the primary victims both of street crime and of police reaction to it. The bosses use laws against victimless activities, "legal" and illegal expansion of police powers, military and paramilitary occupation of poor and minority communities, and diversion of resources to police and jails, to keep workers intimidated and dependent.

Education should be free, pre-school through university PDF Print E-mail

This statement on education was issued by C.T. Weber on September 21, 2010.

Nothing is more important to the future of our country than high-quality education. We need scientists, engineers, technicians, and skilled workers in every field. We need an educated society.

Education is so important to all of us that it should be provided free (as it once was in California) from pre-school through trade schools, colleges and universities. Tuition is just a tax on young people trying to get an education, a tax many of them simply cannot afford. When I went to college there was no tuition and only nominal fees, so we know it can be done.

This state has money, it is just concentrated in a few hands. We need to spread it around. We can do this by shifting the tax burden back to those best able to pay, the wealthy few who have reaped the benefits of the system.

C. T. Weber is the Peace and Freedom Party nominee for Lieutenant Governor. The Lieutenant Governor is an ex-oficio member of the Board of Regents of the University of California.
