Peace and International Justice

The drive for greater profits by multi-national corporations which direct U.S. foreign policy is a major cause of war. We stand for peace between nations and the right of all peoples to self-determination. We support an ongoing socialist transformation everywhere.

Miriam Clark of Encinitas is running for Congress in the 50th Congressional District. She has lived in San Diego County most of her life, and has been very active in the movements for peace and social justice. A retired social worker and union activist, Miriam has done considerable travel abroad, sometimes with delegations and sometimes as a tourist, including visits to Mexico, Cuba, Nicaragua, Iran, Iraq, North Africa, Australia, and Russia, among others.

Miriam Clark is concerned about the whole range of federal issues, but she has several key stands that define her campaign:

  • Stop the wars now! Immediately withdraw all troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. No nukes ever!
  • Amnesty and full rights for all immigrants. Stop blaming the least powerful among us for the problems created by the powerful.
  • Health care for all. A single-payer universal health care system, out from under the thumb of the insurance profiteers, will protect everyone's health.
  • Public ownership of the oil industry, from well to pump. Stop the gouging. Our oil should be the property of our people. And only dispossessing the billionaire owners of the energy corporations will permit real progress toward clean energy.

The 50th District is entirely within San Diego County, including Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, San Marcos, Escondido and parts of the city of San Diego.
