The Peace and Freedom Party is governed by its State Central Committee (SCC) and local County Central Committees. Peace and Freedom Party central committees are elected in the direct primary election, with any Peace and Freedom registrant eligible to run. You may be appointed to your CCC and/or SCC by a vote of the members even if you are under 18 years old or if you are a noncitizen or ineligible to vote.

Interim County Chairs: In counties in which no one was elected to the SCC in the Primary, Interim County Chairs are appointed by the State Chair to serve until a County Central Committee can be organized. An Interim County Chair is not a member of the SCC until appointed as such by the SCC at a meeting.

Preamble to Our By-laws

The Peace and Freedom Party is an open, multi-tendency, movement-oriented socialist party. We are united in our common commitment to socialism, democracy, feminism and unionism and our common opposition to capitalism, imperialism, racism, sexism and elitism.

We recognize that we do not all agree on what we mean by "socialism" or on the strategies and tactics of how to get it. We do agree that it means we can have a world where we can all be part of the democratic decision-making on how the wealth of the economy will be used because we will be owners of it, as well as the cooperative self-managing co-participants in producing it.
