The Fresno County Peace and Freedom Party was founded on November 4, 2004 with the appointment of a County Central Committee chairperson by the State Central Committee. Though individuals in Fresno County have been active in the Peace and Freedom Party since its formation, it is unknown if there was any formal organization here prior to that date.
There are (as of October 20, 2008), 824 voters registered with the Peace and Freedom Party in Fresno County. This is a 58% increase over the 521 Fresno County voters registered with the Peace and Freedom Party on October 18, 2004 - shortly before the Party was organized here. Over the last two years, the number of voters registered with the Peace and Freedom Party in Fresno County has grown from 563 to 824.
The current Fresno County Central Committee consists of five members - Monica Beach, Monica Burris, John Crockford, M. Gloria Hernandez, and Georgia Williams. At its meeting on July 9, 2008, the Fresno County Central Committee elected Monica Beach as its chairperson. Fresno County is a part of the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the Peace and Freedom Party. The San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the Peace and Freedom Party was created by resolution of the State Central Committee on the 25th of February, 2007. It is composed of Peace and Freedom Party organizations in the counties of Merced, Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Kings, and Kern.
