On September 2, opponents of racial profiling staged a die-in and occupation of a Capitol hallway in front of the Governor's office. They were supporting AB 953 (Shirley Weber, Democrat of San Diego). This bill would expand the scope of an existing law prohibiting racial profiling by police. It passed the Legislature on September 10 and is now on Gov. Brown's desk. The action was organized by PICO (People Improving Communities Through Organizing). According to C. T. Weber, who took these photos, "the CHP finally retreated into the Governor's office saying that they would just wait it out. There were several Peace and Freedom Party activists in the demonstration including yours truly.">
